Wikipedia talk:Deletion review/Log/2011 December 25

[edit]Spartaz, as you recall, you have protected a warning that I might be blocked if a post I make edit-conflicts with the closing of a DRV. So in order to avoid any possible conflict, I am posting here. To answer your question, see WP:GNG and look at footnote #1. Unscintillating (talk) 19:24, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Spartaz, As for the continuation of your comment, here is what Wikipedia:Deletion guidelines for administrators says,
Per "ignore all rules", a local consensus can suspend a guideline in a particular case where suspension is in the encyclopedia's best interests, but this should be no more common in deletion than in any other area.
Wikipedia:Deletion guidelines for administrators is a "generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply." Unscintillating (talk) 22:40, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- A pattern I am seeing is that none of the delete positions deny that the topic passes WP:GNG, and none of the keep positions deny that the topic fails WP:POLITICIAN. That could be called a consensus. As per WP:N, passing WP:GNG, "is not a guarantee that a topic will necessarily be handled as a separate, stand-alone page. Editors may use their discretion to merge or group two or more related topics into a single article." Unscintillating (talk) 22:59, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
@Flatscan, Yes, I used List of councilmembers of the Richmond City Council at the DRV, but it was not previously mentioned; here is the list of previously mentioned merge targets in related AfDs, three from me, and two from LuciferWildCat:
- List of members of the Richmond City Council, merge target mentioned at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Griffin (Councilmember)
- Richmond City Council, merge target mentioned at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Griffin (Councilmember)
- "merged into the city council article", comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mindell Penn
- List of Richmond City Council councilmembers, merge target mentioned at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mindell Penn
- "If not I think a creation of the Richmond City Council (Richmond, California) history section would be cool to incubate some of these", comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mindell Penn.

The following is a statement posted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Griffin (Councilmember), modified to show the disambiguated link to "Richmond City Council":

- What's the point of this thread anyway? Just seems to be you yammering on, perhaps in an attempt to circumvent your restrictions elsewhere Purplebackpack89≈≈≈≈ 03:06, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
